Past AAUW Galas

Our biggest fundraiser of the year!

AAUW Virtual Fundraising 2021 and 2022

Along with many cherished celebrations, the annual AAUW St. George branch Gala Fundraiser is no exception to the traditions we had to re-think.

While the circumstances of our fundraising have changed, the need has not! Our advocacy programs rely on your generosity. Our mission continues, no matter how we go about it.

giving aauw 2022

“Giving Without Going” was our theme in 2021, an apt one for our approach during Covid-19. We solicited with the reminder that “the Giver receives the greater Gift.” We set a high goal, and were unexpectedly surprised to reach it! With the monies raised we were able to maintain all of our excellent programs for women in need.

Unfortunately, the Pandemic had not yet subsided enough in 2022 to make the Gala event seem like a prudent endeavor. We decided to repeat our theme from the previous year, with a small adjustment “Giving Without Going 2.0”. We challenged our membership with an ambitious goal: to reach the same goal as the previous year. Our generously supportive members rose to this challenge! And with this successful virtual campaign, we will be able to continue offering scholarships to women to further their education, and provide stimulating opportunities to girls through our eSmart program.

The AAUW Gala 2020

The January 2020 Gala, with the theme “A Lifetime of Leadership”, was an evening of motivation, fine dining, entertainment, live and silent auction and complementary wine and champagne at our biggest event of the year to raise money for our programs which help women and girls in our community (especially scholarships and our STEM camp).

Our keynote speaker was Megan Marsden, a gymnastics legend. In addition to her personal gymnastic achievements, including three individual NCAA titles, she has coached many University of Utah teams to National championships and All-American awards. Megan shared her amazing story on how her enthusiastic and motivational style of leadership helped bring out the champion in her athletes!

The AAUW Gala 2019

At the January 2019 “A Night of Inspiration” Gala, we were thrilled to have two keynote speakers: Donia Jessop, mayor of Hildale, and Amy Barlow, a student at Utah Tech.
Donia Jessop was born and raised in Hildale, Utah. She and her family left the FLDS church, but she returned to Hildale to help repair and rebuild her community. She became the first female mayor in Hildale’s history, and in that role, she is making the hard choices to create a better future for her community.
Amy Barlow grew up in a polygamist family of 22. She was home-schooled during her elementary school years, but when Hildale High School opened, she enrolled and with hard work and fortitude, she graduated a year early. She is now in her first year at Utah Tech University.

In additions to these two extremely inspirational speakers, everyone attending enjoyed fine dining, entertainment, live and silent auction and complementary wine and champagne. What an uplifting way to support our fund raising efforts. The monies we raise help fund our scholarships, STEM camp, and other programs that support women and girls in our community. Thank you to everyone who supports AAUW.
